National Spotlight on Georgetown County Library!

Georgetown County Library has been awarded the "2007 National Medal for Museum and Library Service", the "Nations's Highest Honor for Extraordinary Community Service", by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). IMLS is the primary source of federal support for 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.

The Library is one of only ten institutions receiving the 2007 award and $10,000 prize. This is also the first time a South Carolina organization has been awarded the top honor. Download Digital Audio Books Georgetown County Library has partnered with other members of the Palmetto Library Consortium (PLC) to offer the OverDrive digital media service to its patrons.

For the near term, downloads can only be performed from your home computer and help is only available online from the PLC Digital Catalog. In the future, each library branch location will have at least one download station available for public use and library staff will be trained to provide limited supplemental support.
