History in the Making!

Imagine visiting the Library website and easily accessing a comprehensive collection of Wikipedia-like articles and pictures entitled "Georgetown County Cultural Heritage Encyclopedia". Unfortunately, it doesn't exist ... yet!

There's a lot to know about Georgetown County but relatively little high quality information available on the web; see the Links page for some examples. We'd like to start addressing this deficiency by asking you to partner with us in collecting and compiling materials suitable for creating an online encyclopedia dedicated to the area's more than 300 years of history, heritage, and culture.

Everyone is welcome to participate by simply sharing knowlege about Georgetown County. It is extremely easy to make a contribution because you can submit input in practically any format; including letter, e-mail, telephone, interview, through our website, or even by posting directly into Wikipedia - an international web-based free-content encyclopedia project. In fact, we'll work to get all participant's properly formatted contributions posted in this extremely popular world wide web repository of information.

How to Participate:

We'll soon post some general content creation guidelines here. In the meanwhile, please go ahead and start writing. Also, think about gathering related materials to accompany your articles; for example, pictures or other objects of interest that could be photographed. Following are ways to get your contributions to the Library.

Traditional Methods: Make your contributions by letter, telephone, fax, or in-person. See the Branches page for contact information.
