How to get a Library Card:


Proof of identification with correct current address by providing one of the following.
  • Driver's license with photo and current mailing address.
  • ID card with photo and current mailing address.
If neither of the above is available then two of the following may be used. One of the items must include your current address.
  • Driver's license with photo, but an old address (out-of-state is acceptable).
  • School ID with photo but no address.
  • Military ID, with photo.
  • Preprinted checkbook.
  • Piece of first class mail with a current postmark.
  • Voter's registration card.
  • Telephone number and address listed in current version of a telephone book.
  • Current passport with photo.
  • Copy of lease agreement for at least one year.
  • Verbal verification of Georgetown County property ownership from the assessor's office.

Williamsburg County Residents:


Williamsburg County residents may obtain a Georgetown County Public Library card if the following conditions are met.
  • You have a card in good standing from the Williamsburg County Public Library.
  • You can produce ID needed to get a Georgetown County Public Library card.

Children's Library Card Eligibility:


  • There is no minimum age requirement for children's library cards.
  • The parent / legal guardian must have a current library card in good standing.
  • The parent / legal guardian must accompany a child to get a library card or may obtain a card for their child without the child being present.
  • The parent / legal guardian accepts full responsibility for materials checked out on a child's library card.
